Description: Directly after the end of the Second Lebanon War, on August 11, 2006, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed Resolution 1701. During the 29-day-long war, Hezbollah fired rockets from Lebanon at Israeli civilians in northern Israel while hiding its weapons and launch sites amongst residential areas in Lebanon, endangering the lives of Lebanese civilians as well. UNSC Resolution 1701 was created to stabilize the Israel-Lebanon border and calls for the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon. However, the Hezbollah terror organization has since continued to violate international law and has intensified tension in the region. Lt. Col. Amnon Shefler and Maj.
