Description: The teams at Fine Homebuilding and all of the Taunton Press are deeply saddened by the passing of longtime FHB contributor and beloved friend, Andy Engel. Andy described his career as a split between being a carpenter wishing he was a journalist or a journalist wishing he was a carpenter. Luckily for our staff, that resulted in a lot of time spent working with us – Andy served as both senior and executive editor for Fine Homebuilding magazine, and also published a number of books with The Taunton Press including "Carpentry Complete" and "Building Stairs." Most importantly, he was an incredibly kind, community-oriented person and devoted friend who championed a commitment to craft with dignity and integrity. He had an outward energy that positively touched so many people and encouraged togetherness. We will be honoring the life and legacy of Andy Engel this week across our channels and invite you to think of him with us.
