Description: The beams are NAMED Hercules! It's DAY THREE of the treehouse build, more or less, and the Fouch kids are getting some things up in the air. This is the day for "bolty" and "brackety," which is the, ahem...technical terminology for Fouch original hardware designed to allow the two trees to shift in the wind without breaking the treehouse platform. Keep in mind this is a Fouch-o-matic project, which means very little purchasing and a whole lot of making things work with whatever is lying around. And a fair amount of goofing around. And, of course, cookies. Goodnight, Little House. ___ IT'S TIME FOR A TREEHOUSE!!! We have a house to live in, and we have a workshop (or the frame, anyway) for Dad to live in. :) Now it is time for the kids to build a treehouse. Sadie is 5, Stella is 9, and Milo is 10, and they all bring different strengths to the job. (Okay, mostly Sadie just brings her cute outfits. šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ ) But of course, the Best. Dad. Ever. is running the show. Enjoy! *** Our Facebook page is here: facebook.com/fouchomaticoffgrid Our (not very active) Instagram is here: instagram.com/fouchfamilyoffgrid About the Fouch Family: We are Nick and Esther, and our three kids Milo, Stella, and Sadie. We have lived off the grid -- in the sense of not connected to the power grid -- for five years on three acres of wooded land in Southwestern Idaho. Nick is a finish carpenter working on building his own business. Esther is a writer, the author of a recent memoir called "What Falls From the Sky," and a daughter of the homesteading teacher and activist Carla Emery, who wrote "The Encyclopedia of Country Living." Nick and Esther were both raised in Idaho, near where we live now, but we've also lived in Massachusetts, Utah, and California. Our kids are ages 10, 9 and 5.
