Systolic murmurs include aortic stenosis, pulmonary stenosis, mitral regurgitation, tricuspid regurgitation, ventricular septal defect, and the murmurs that mimic aortic stenosis like hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Diastolic murmurs include aortic regurgitation, pulmonary regurgitation, mitral stenosis, and tricuspid stenosis. Continuous murmurs include patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). PDA is a connection between the pulmonary artery and the aorta that abnormally persists beyond fetal life.
