Description: Grand Seiko SLGA007 & SLGA008 Spring Drive Limited Editions: First Look at Couture 2021 | aBlogtoWatch Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch takes a quick first look at the new, limited-edition, Grand Seiko SLGA007 and SLGA008 watches. Both begin with the brand’s 40mm-wide, 1960’s inspired 44GS case design; the SLGA007 in stainless steel and the the SLGA008 in 18k rose gold. Both feature sapphire display casebooks, 100m of water resistance, and Grand Seiko’s new in-house Caliber 9RA2 Spring Drive movement which offers an impressive accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per month and a generous 120-hour power reserve (the indicator for which has now been moved to the back of the movement). The SLGA007 features a deep blue dial meant to evoke the peaceful ripples of Lake Suwa, located near Grand Seiko’s Shinshu Watch Studio facility, and comes on a sporty three-link stainless steel bracelet. The SLGA008 meanwhile offers an earthy woodgrain-inspired dial pattern and is paired with a glossy brown crocodile leather strap. Both pieces are a limited offering; only 2,021 examples of the Grand Seiko SLGA007 will be made, while the SLGA008 is limited to 140 pieces. Pricing is $8,700 for the SLGA007 and $49,000 for the SLGA008. Both references will be available through select authorized dealers and Grand Seiko boutiques later this fall.
