Description: In this conversation between Chief Scientist Erik Cordes and Professor Mandy Joye on the R/V Atlantis, they discuss the goals of the DEEP SEARCH (DEEP Sea Exploration to Advance Research on Coral/Canyon/Cold seep Habitats) program, funded by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the U.S. Geological Survey, and the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research. The DEEP SEARCH 2018 expedition runs from August 19 to September 2, 2018, during which time the team will NOAA and partners at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the U.S. Geological Survey will collect critical baseline information about deepwater habitats offshore the U.S. Mid- and South Atlantic on board the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution-operated R/V Atlantis using the human occupied vehicle Alvin.
