Description: Highlights from the archives -- a trip from Goa to Hyderabad aboard the Amaravati Express. Undertaken in October 2017, when the train was still hauled by Gooty WDM3A twins in the wonderful ``Kingfisher'' livery. Enjoy the chugging of the twin Alcos as they ascend through the dense forests of the Braganza Ghats, past the magnificent Dudhsagar Falls. The falls are not as vibrant as they are in the monsoons but make for a spectacular sight nonetheless. From Castle Rock to Hubli, we are accompanied by lush green fields as the train winds through the alluvial plains of central Karnataka. From Hubli, the soil turns black, as the typically Deccani terrain accompany us to Koppal, where the black soil gives way to laterite and rocky hills. Don't miss the ferocious notch up of the twins through the undulating Deccani terrain, and the lovely little station of Torangallu, prior to the mining centre of Bellary. The black soil of the Deccan returns post Bellary, as we slip into Andhra Pradesh and arrive at Guntakal. After a couple of hours, I take the Mysore Jaipur Express, hauled by Maula Ali Alcos, towards Hyderabad.
