Description: Be sure to check out the main video first: youtube.com/watch?v=0-JAObPxnTg&t= Many people asked for a behind the scenes video, so here it is 😉 DETAILED EXPLANATION FOR EVERY PROJECT: FORCE BUILDING: Some of you might already know how I made the “Pyramid Project”. It's basically a Stop Motion. That means that I took a photo after every domino that I set up. I had a total of 102 photos only for this little setup. Then, I filmed myself pretending to use the Force. In the editing process I combined both clips. Therefore, I had to cut out the pyramid with the masking tool and synchronize the dominoes with my movement. I also added a few layers to hide some ugly shadows. FLYING DOMINOES: The “Flying Dominoes Project” was the easiest one. I just played the original clip backwards and added a sound effect. SORTING DOMINOES: The “Sorting Dominoes Project” also didn't take that long. My mom threw the dominoes in my direction and I followed them with my hand and played the clip backwards. And then I just had to throw the dominoes in a box. FORCE SPEED: For the “Force Speed Project” I taped down two dominoes, so they were unable to move or fall. So, I failed and pretended to use the force to stop the line from destroying my whole setup. LIGHTSABER TRAINING: My absolute favorite project was the one with the lightsaber. Maybe you noticed that I didn't use my normal building area. That's because I wanted to have a big single-coloured background. So, I just decided to remove all the furniture from our living room for one day. I dressed up as a Jedi and the design of the domino wall shows the symbol of the Sith. So: Light Side VS Dark Side. Because it's a rather longer clip, I decided to use the tracking tool instead of the masking tool to make the lightsaber effect. After I finished tracking the tip and hilt I just added the lightsaber effect and adjusted the settings until I liked the result. The only problem with the tracking tool is that the lightsaber blade is always in the foreground. That’s why I had to make another layer with the original footage and cut out the parts of me and the domino wall where the lightsaber should be in the background. I searched for different lightsaber sounds and combined them until it matched my movements with the lightsaber. And that's how easy you can make your own lightsaber effect! JEDI WISDOM: First of all, a big thank you to ND Domino for helping me out. She filmed herself saying Yoda's famous quote "Do or do not. There is no try". I acted as a desperate Jedi who lost the hope to ever completing the domino wall without failing. I had to cut out ND Domino with the masking tool. Then I added some effects to make sure that she looks like a real Force Ghost. FORCE FIGHT: Now I will tell you how I did the Force Fight segment. It consists out of 2 clips that I combined. The first clip consists out of the dominoes. I taped them down and then I made them move with a little string. The second clip is about the two hands that should push the dominoes with the Force afterwards. While filming, my mom and I just pretended to push the dominoes forward. The editing process was a little bit complicated. First of all, I had to synchronize the two clips, so it really looks like the hands are pushing the dominoes. And then to make sure that you can see the hands and the line I had to cut out the dominoes. I used the mask tool for it and had to adjust it frame by frame. But then, I had an ugly shadow which kind of destroys the whole effect and makes it unreal. So, I tried to remove. Then, the only thing that was missing was the push effect. I used a bulge effect and keyframed its position. I also added a little sound effect to underline the force push. LIGHTSABER TRANSITION: For the transition I used my greenscreen and the lightsaber that I bought on eBay. After filming that, I removed the greenscreen with HitFilm Express and added the lightsaber effect. It's very easy but it takes some time because you have to keyframe a mask for every frame. Then, I added a sound effect and there you go: The lightsaber transition is complete. INTRO AND OUTRO: Of course, I also wanted to have an Intro and Outro that looked like a Star Wars Movie. I designed the title with Gimp (that's a free software to edit photos) and added the cinematic look with HitFilm. I also made the crawl text at the end with HitFilm Express. After that I edited everything together and added the headlines and transitions for every project. Many thanks to DominoJOJO for the help with the Color Grading to achieve a real Cinematic Movie Look. 🎵 Music 🎵 "Star Wars - Cantina Band" by DJ AG "Star Wars - The Force Theme" by DJ AG youtube.com/channel/UCgWC7P2qVPluALVUeAnU_mA Check out my facebook page here ➡ facebook.com/dominoerdmann
