When analyzing the chords and melodies of hit songs it can be rather difficult to say what happened within the structure to cause them to rise up to the very top. Was it the key, or the scale types? Was it the groove, or perhaps the instrumentation? It had to be something! Picking ‘one reason’ why a song tops the charts would be a challenge. But that said, we do know that something different happened in the structure of those hit songs which caused them to stand out. In this lesson, I’m going to show you how to include two ideas that will cause a piece of music have more of an impact. Most songs stay diatonic to a key signature.
