Description: How easy is it for a disease to be passed from one person to another? That's what the reproductive number, R0 (pronounced "R-naught") can tell us. In this video, I will explain what happens when the R0 values are less than, equal to, or greater than 1. Next, I will compare R0 values for many diseases with which you are familiar, and I'll finish by explaining the three factors that determine the value for R0 for any given disease - as well as to describe the challenges that epidemiologists have when calculating it.
