Description: I wrote a Practice along! I go through this 5-minute *beginner* drum warmup on the practice pad! 😊🥁 Get my Ebook: ⬇️ emmanuellecaplette.com/en/product-category/ebook-book instagram.com/emmanuellecaplette facebook.com/emmanuellecaplettedrummer These exercises are great for developing your single strokes and double strokes, as well as basic accents. Once you’ve worked through this warmup, try some of these exercises from the legendary drum book, Stick Control! Beginners: note the freedom and height of those rebounds!! This is essential, and may not be easy at first. Allow your hands to feel the sticks’ tendency to bounce (like off a trampoline), and with soft fingers and wrists follow the stick up without slowing its ascent; get the weight of your hand off the stick when you want it to rebound and then just give a little shove toward the drum for the next note - just enough push to get a full height on the next rebound. This exercise, done properly, is the foundation of EVERYTHING. And – as always – it’s more fun to practice rudiments along to songs, so enjoy this epic Kaz Rodrigez track (or find one of your own that’s at a good tempo for you).
