A luminous, brilliant and touching vision of this masterpiece to which we keep coming back, with the chance to own several absolute reference versions. The subtitle "From the New World," written in Dvorák's hand, was added just before the premiere of the work by the New York Philharmonic. The title should be taken in the sense of "impressions and memories of the New World", intended for his Czech compatriots: "At home, everyone will immediately understand what I meant", said the composer. Indeed, beyond its literary and American folkloric inspiration, it appears as a universal love song to the land and its particular atmospheres: Czech-influenced rhythms follow black or American Indian-influenced melodies. But the whole is unified in a masterful, deeply personal way. The coupling of the Moldau, an excerpt from Smetana's 'Ma Vlast' is most welcome. The interpretation is captivating and is conducted with the same vigor and attention to detail.
