But more than these, her most favouritest thing of all, is to draw. She would draw more than any child had drawn before. Close her door, sit on the floor, let mind explore, and just draw. She would draw animals (friendly ones), she would draw stories (scary ones), and she would draw trees, (just so many trees). Until one day she felt too sick to draw. She remembers before, the doctor she saw, said the medicine might make it hard to draw. She couldn’t finish her animals (the friendly ones) She couldn’t finish her stories (the scary ones) She couldn’t finish her trees, all because this inconsiderate disease. All her drawing desires, replaced with needles and wires, and going weeks without seeing a tree, All those times feeling inspired, replaced with feeling tired, Just laying there wondering why me? To be 8, and not get to go outside, To be 8, and live where sickness cannot hide, To be 8, and to be told regularly that your friend has just died. You would be scared too. And whether you are 8 or 88, know that cancer does not discriminate. But we live in an age where we can treat it. We can be tough like Sophie and beat it. And together, if we raise enough money, we could defeat it. Because those in need rely on us (the friendly ones) To help them make it through the day (the scary ones) and rid the world of this disease, because there are just too many trees that need drawing.
