It has been described as both "minimalist" and "maximalist" with a reduced presence of drums in the production, which was handled by West, BoogzDaBeast, E.Vax, Gesaffelstein, Jeff Bhasker, Mike Dean, among others. The album features vocal contributions from several artists and is darker in lyrical content than West's previous efforts, exploring various topics, such as religion, addiction, West's ego, his mental instability and relationships with his family, his divorce from Kim Kardashian, and his late mother Donda C. West, after whom the album is named. Donda received mixed reviews from music critics upon release; many felt the album was overlong and lacking in coherence, though a few considered it to be superior to his previous albums Ye (2018) and Jesus is King (2019). The album also attracted controversy regarding the guest appearances by DaBaby and Marilyn Manson on the track "Jail, Pt. 2", due to their allegations of homophobia and abuse respectively. Donda debuted at number on on several charts, including the U.S. Billboard 200, where it became West's tenth consecutive number-one album in the country. It also marked one of the biggest opening-day streaming tallies in the history of Spotify and Apple Music. "Hurricane" was released as the album's lead single on September 3, 2021. #KanyeWest #Donda #Music #Kanye #Review
