Description: DIY Air Heater! DIY Space Heater! uses no electricity! runs on either isopropyl alcohol (70% or 91%) or clean burning ethanol/bio-ethanol! (my new favorite fuel). solid and stable design! works great! the chimney cap stops the heat from rising straight up to the sky (or ceiling) and redirects it to the surrounding living space. items needed: a gallon size metal can (new empty metal paint can used), sand or pea gravel (pea gravel used), a 4" vent pipe/chimney cap (from lowes), and a small metal container (to hold the fuel) *i used an empty tuna can and a 2 oz. stainless steel "sauce cup" or "ramekin". (small metal sauce cups "mini ramekins" seem to be a good choice to hold the fuel). i saw a 12 pack of 2.5 oz. ones for about 3 dollars on amazon. for the fuel: use either isopropyl alcohol (70 or 91%) or ethanol/bio ethanol. (i used bioethanol/ventless fireplace fuel. *it burns 100% "particulate free" and releases no smoke, fumes or odors of any kind). just fill the metal gallon can with gravel or sand to the top, add fuel to the smaller can (the fuel tank) and place that can on top of the gravel or sand. then light it. next just drop on the vent pipe/chimney cap. push it down (while turning it back and forth) so it digs down into the gravel or sand. (use gloves while doing this because it will be super hot). tip: practice that a couple of times (to make sure you can do it with ease) before you light it up. 2nd tip: the small 2 oz. container i used (or something similar in size) is about the right size to use if you're using the unit indoors. the tuna can puts out a pretty big flame. either size works outdoors. use caution. don't put it near anything flammable. Note: i recommend that the first time (or two) that you use it - use the tuna can as the "fuel tank" and run the unit outside. fill tuna can half full with alcohol fuel and run the unit. do this twice. that will burn off any oils and leftover by-products of the manufacturing process still left on the vent cap. it also burns off the galvanized coating on the cap... which is good. (that is what you want to happen). for the cleanest burn use bio-ethanol. that releases no smoke, fumes or odors of any kind. just a little water vapor and co2 (about the same amount that a human exhales). if you like the video please rate comment sub and share! A note about the video: i started this video with a series of pictures (so it's silent for the first 50 seconds). sometimes pictures say more than words 🙂 (just wanted everyone to know that the audio on this video is okay)
