Description: crosstrainingenduro.com We are privileged to ride on quite a few private properties nowadays. This one is high on a mountain range and the rainforest is a refuge for an incredible diversity of flora and fauna. Very very peaceful until the two strokes fire up! The owner has marked out a few new trails which will double up as walking tracks too, we are doing our first ride through the marked track. There's a real art to cutting tracks. They are quite hard to ride at first. But once they bed in they are much easier. So if you want a tough track, it has to be almost impossible to ride at first. The owner has set up a pile of wide tracks for easy access to the whole property... very handy if someone is badly injured and we need to get an ambulance in there. Every vid must have a wheelie of course, lets get that out of the way. Finally I decide to shut up. Look how long it took me to talk about knee braces because I was trying to focus on the track! All of this brings up two very interesting points for me. First, wisdom and ignorance. Remember that Greek philosopher, Socrates? He believed that true wisdom was humility, accepting that we know very little or nothing at all. I can see what he means. On social media, so often you see guys saying knee braces are bull crap. Or on the other hand, you are an idiot if you don't wear them. And they usually base their claims on one single accident they had. And whether the braces worked or not. This is ridiculous. They have based their entire belief on one case, ignoring thousands of other cases around the world. Proper research looks into this sort of thing, and of course the answers aren't always black and white. Most of the time we humans don't like to think too much. And we want it all very simple. And if you are interested in the real truth, it usually isn't easy to find. Or digest it. The wise person admits they know almost nothing, and is prepared to put the hard yards in to find the truth. And is prepared to accept it could be very ambiguous. Or not the answer they wanted. The second point? Dirt bike fundementalists. Ignorant riders will not only formulate their opinions on very little evidence. Next they start insisting that everyone must conform to their belief system. And criticise anyone who disagrees. This sort of crap has started plenty of wars of course. And genocides. And persecution right through history. And you see the same idiot mentality in dirt riding. Two strokes are the best dirt bikes. Only pansies use Rekluse clutches. It's wrong to use bar risers. Anyway, that's my little rant for today. And of course I'll explore all of this more in one of our dirt philosophy vids one of these days. As always, thanks for your support guys! Catch you later.
