Description: Patreon: patreon.com/fretjam Lesson page: fretjam.com/diminished-7th-chords.html Diminished 7th chords (dim7 for short) have an unusual role in music, partly to do with their symmetry. They have no strong "center" like major and minor chords, and tend to be used as "passing chords", linking other chords in the key. In this lesson we learn what symmetry means in music and how dim7 chords function in typical progressions. By experimenting with diminished seventh chords in your own music, you can add a little extra tension and fluidity to your progressions - just try not to overdo it (like I do in one example in this video!).
