Description: BIG UPDATE: I made an app you can download that allows you to browse, backup, delete and cherry pick items from your cache. Get it here: youtube.com/watch?v=Eaxgfkbl82A When I first found this folder I discovered images from months ago that I thought were deleted, stuff I've never seen before and it raised some questions in my head about how much people actually know about this- and if Discord provide a way to clear it or do so automatically. Now I know what a cache is and why its necessary, I'm a full-time software dev, but most users of Discord are not, and that's the issue. The issue is deleted content remains here for a long time. Imagine now your server gets raided, people post a bunch of illegal shit- even if you had bots to auto delete during a raid, those images will be sitting on your computer for months or even indefinitely and you would be none the wiser. I would like Discord to add a simple feature to empty the cache from within the settings, with a small description beneath about what caching is so that users know that unwanted images could be on their computers. So please consider the this before you comment "its common knowledge" or "its just a cache, lots of apps do this". People need to know and that's all this video is for. This behaviour is not controlled by Discord, but rather Chromium, which is open source software engineered by Google. Its default image caching is duration is ~30 days, there must have been another reason why I saw images from many months ago, someone could have re-posted them while I was afk. Regardless, in 2016 Discord received a few reports about this, but stated they do not want to modify the default behaviour of chromium but that they could very well expose a button to clear it-- three years later still no button.
