We have a passion for composing our own music, as well as arranging rock and metal music, so that is what we most often play and post. However, we decided to return to our roots and create HARP REFLECTIONS, an album of Classical, Celtic, Sacred, and Original music! For that album, we arranged one of our favorite classical pieces. Originally played on piano, we created a harp duet arrangement of “La fille aux cheveux de lin” or “The Girl with the Flaxen Hair” by French composer Claude Debussy. The title of this 1910 composition was inspired by Leconte de Lisle’s 1852 poem of the same name. The piece is known for its divergence from Debussy’s style at the time – with ebbs and flows, and many beautiful open spaces. It was a unique challenge to arrange and perform this song on 2 harps (sounding like a single instrument) because that required us to play with extreme intuitiveness. We wanted our interpretation to feel like a daydream on the perfect summer day in the countryside… the epitome of peaceful tranquility. We recorded this arrangement on our new electro-acoustic Concert Grand harps and filmed the video with our acoustic concert grand harps.
