Hard hitting David Lemieux takes on Gabriel “King” Rosado in the first defense of his NABF Middleweight Title which he won via KO3 over Fernando Guerrero back in May 2014. Prefight records; Lemieux 32(30)-2 , Rosado 21(13)-8. It was an exciting, action packed albeit one sided bout for Lemieux who got the better of Rosado in most exchanges with his body and head combinations for the most part but Rosado showed tremendous bravery despite being largely swarmed with power shots. In round 3, Gabriel was floored courtesy of 2 pulverizing left hooks by David that also swelled up his right eye which later began to open up and bleed. Later on, his left eye was also bruised and referee Steve Willis had to call timeout at the start of rounds 5, 8 & 10 for the ringside physician to inspect the Philly born warrior. He was allowed to continue each time. However, towards the midpoint of round 10 Lemieux connected with a thunderous right hand that shook the brave Rosado followed by a fussillade of power punches, which prompted the ringside physician to intervene and signal Willis to end the fight to prevent unnecessary damages to the challenger. Gabriel Rosado displayed exceptional fighting heart and despite the fact that his vision was impaired from the start, he refused to quit and even had his moments time and time again. After the victory, David Lemieux became the IBF World Middleweight Champion with a UD12 win over Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam and went on to challenge then undefeated 33(30)-0 Gennady Golovkin in a WBA (Super), IBF, WBC Interim, and IBO Middleweight Unification Fight in October 2015. In a courageous but losing effort, he was defeated by the destructively skilled GGG via TKO8 and relieved of his IBF World Middleweight Title.
