Description: I take no ownership for the visuals used in this clip. I am not monetizing from this video. I only want to contribute to the movement of this cause. I grew up highly influenced by Black Culture. Their endless artistic contributions, one being Hip-Hop, has massively shaped the path to where I am today. I feel very fortunate to have been exposed to a community where your differences were glorified. Because I was so immersed in Bboying, race nor skin color was ever a conscious thought in my mind. I knew what racism was, but I didn’t understand it fully nor experience it. All I knew was the acceptance of every culture and every race from around the world sharing and contributing their love to this art form, dance, and helping it flourish as one. I admit that it wasn’t until the tragic loss of George Floyd that my eyes were opened to this horrifying truth of racism and the injustice proposed on people of color. I apologize that I have been blind to this. Over the past couple weeks, I’ve immersed myself into learning about black history. There’s still so much to learn, but what I have been exposed to has affected me deeply and left me with a heavy heart. All I kept thinking to myself was "how could humans be this inhumane towards other humans? How could someone have so much hate with a complete lack of empathy towards someone else?" I had these same thoughts and feelings back when Trump was running for the presidency. Remembering him at his rallies has shown me how much has not changed. There’s still so many of these inhumane people out there with hate in their hearts. Ignorant to how the whole system works, I said to myself, “Thank god that guy will never be our president.” When he was elected, I was so affected by it that I wrote a song just to express how I was feeling at the time. I titled it “THE MARCHING MARTIANS.” The meaning and message of this song had never been so clear to me until now. I’ve attended protests, donated to foundations, and signed petitions, but I know the best way for me to contribute to this cause and help others become more aware of this massive problem is through the voice of my art. I’ve compiled moments of these marches and protests from both the present day and the past to show how parallel they are and how history has repeated itself for years. I apologize for the disturbing visuals, but this is the reality that we are living in. As uncomfortable and brutal as it may be, we need to open our eyes to this unlawful part of society. My goal in making this video is to spread light in the darkness of our world...to spread hope for change. Art is an escape from reality in many ways, but it is also a reflection of it. After everything black people have been through, they have never given up hope. They have always pressed on with grace and positivity for equality and change, all while sharing their beautiful gifts with the world. To me that is what it means to be human. We all need to be more like that. We need to follow their lead. We must MARCH WITH THEM. WE MUST MARCH FOR EQUALITY. WE MUST MARCH FOR CHANGE. WE MUST MARCH TO FIX THIS BROKEN SYSTEM. WE MUST MARCH TO STOP THE MARTIANS! Here are a list of Black Organizations to Support and Follow. If I have missed any please list them in the comments.
