Description: In this episode, Jeff talks with Steve Gilcreast of the Sig Sauer Academy about what constitutes a really good training facility and training program. Started in the 1990s to provide armorer's classes for law enforcement and military users of Sig firearms, the Sig Academy has grown to a full-scale training facility on 140 acres with over two dozen ranges (25 yards to 1,000 meters), including two indoor ranges. The NSSF has reported an influx of 10 MILLION first-time gun owners since early 2020. As a result, the Academy is expanding its training offerings to support new shooters, as well as experienced shooters who want to expand or fine-tune their skills. Classes include a 4-class series geared to folks who have never handled a firearm before. It helps them learn the practical mechanics of operating firearms, build their confidence, and allay any fears they have. Classes consist of no more than 10 students, with 2 instructors, so each student gets necessary one-on-one attention. There's no need to own a gun: you can borrow, rent, or buy EVERYTHING you need for a class at Sig Academy. You can arrive with zero shooting skills and leave with a solid grounding in the basics, understanding that shooting well is achievable and ENJOYABLE.
