Description: You've finished your first training class - and it sure went by fast. You had a great time and learned a lot, we hope! To get the most out of the experience, take a moment to do an after-action review (AAR) and reflect on what you learned. What did you do well that you want to sustain? Keep working on that. What do you want to improve? Identify what you DID NOT do well and put MORE effort into improving it. What NEW skills do you want to add to your "skill inventory"? What do you need to CHANGE? Change can be scary, but if you're doing something that won't help you in a self-defense emergency, be honest with yourself and work to change it. Your class experience may give you the reasons WHY the change is necessary. What was your major take-away from the class? The "Ah-Ha!" moment, the discovery or realization led to a big breakthrough in your skill development. What did the class really focus on? Did you learn from it what you wanted to learn? Finally, do a Gear Review: What did you learn about your gear? Apply to your equipment the same questions you used to review YOUR performance. This after-action review works great for a lot of learning activities outside the shooting / personal-defense realm.
