Jaguar I-Pace The Photon Red paint job on the Jaguar I-Pace isn’t the only aspect of the concept car that has people saying wow. The electric SUV has a pair of motors that produce 400 horsepower, giving the I-Pace the ability to go from zero to sixty in about four seconds. Its lithium-ion battery gives the car a range of around 220 miles. The I-Pace is expected to be followed by a production model, which is supposed to be unveiled sometime later this year or early next year. 6. Toyota Setsuna Made almost entirely of Japanese cedar and birch wood the Toyota Setsuna debuted at Milan Design Week in April 2016. The car was built using Japanese carpentry techniques that involve no nails or screws. The body is composed of 86 handmade wooden panels. With a top speed that doesn’t get beyond 30 mph, the car was made as more of an art piece than a fully functioning vehicle. Toyota explained that they built the Setsuna as a family heirloom that would last a long time. The wood would warp and change color over time, giving the car an irreplaceable value to a longtime owner. 5. Kia Novo Aimed at modern urbanites with stressful jobs and busy schedules Kia showed off its Novo at an auto show in Seoul in 2015. While there were no plans to transfer the concept into a production reality the car did provide a glimpse into the future of Kia’s compact car lineup. 4. Toyota Kikai When it debuted at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show Toyota’s Kikai garnered a massive amount of attention. People were struck by its three-seat center drive design; which Toyota explained would give the driver a more instinctive sensory connection with the car and sliding doors, something usually only found on minivans. 3. Lexus NX Ice Edition Lexus U.K. commissioned an ice sculptor to make ice tires for its NX crossover as part of a publicity stunt. After deep freezing the entire car at negative 30 degrees Celsius for five days, the NX successfully drove down a London street on its unique tires. 2. Mercedes AMG GT Though an exact model of this car won’t be released a version that is supposed to be 90 percent identical should come out sometime in the near future. Like most Mercedes, the car is visually appealing but what lies under the hood is also impressive. The AMG boasts a 4.0-liter v8 engine that is supplemented by an electric motor, giving the car a potential power output of 800 horses. 1. Renault Trezor Lacking doors both the driver and passenger have to enter the Renault Trezor at the same time by opening the entire car and climbing into the cabin. Long and low to the ground the Trezor is fully electric; powered by two battery packs, one at the front of the car and one at the back. Its 350 horsepower motor accelerates the Trezor from zero to sixty in under four seconds. Though it looks like something a Bond villain or an evil character from the Batman TV series would be spotted in, the Trezor has been called the most beautiful concept car from 2016.
