Description: Use discount code ALICTEN at the Pinnd checkout to get 10% off or use this link pinnd.co.uk/discount/ALICTEN Last weeks video was one end of the bike tech spectrum, a guy in a shed (well, warehouse) putting in a lot of man hours to hand create something unique. This week we're at the other end with a full facility of the highest calibre CNC machines capable of producing parts to be sent to space! Pinnd is an offshoot of precision engineers Contract Solutions and like I mention they produce items for many industries including medical and aerospace. The CS2 is Pinnd first venture into the MTB world after they found trouble finding parts due to shortages from the pandemic. Their goal was to create a pedal that would take a lot of punishment and last for years, with insane tolerances, the best materials and a lot of machining experience they've come up with what could be the last pedal you ever need to buy. I'm no saint when it comes to my carbon footprint but as I get older it's becoming something I'm increasingly conscious of. Finding out that I could get a set of pedals made from locally sourced materials (as locally as is possible anyway), machined less than two hours away with locally sourced bearings, boxes and recycling I bit their hand off when they got in touch asking if I was interested to try a pair. Yes this video is an advertisement, my payment was the pedals but it was my idea to make this video and share the story with you guys...I thought it would be an interesting juxtaposition after last weeks lower tech video. Of course the elephant in the room is the price, £195 isn't cheap. Unfortunately locally made nearly always means higher prices, it's very difficult to compete against the east when it comes to this regard. Using the highest quality materials also bumps up the price and so does the knowledge and skill of the machinists who turn the raw billets into a working pedal. I understand this price will limit who can get these pedals but with a 5 year warranty they could outlast multiple cheaper options. This is their first product and I know they have big plans moving forward, once they have an in-house designer I think these guys could be a big player in the UK made bike products world. As usual I hope you enjoyed this, to learn more head to pinnd.co.uk or their instagram @wearepinnd and keep an eye on my social media on the competition details soon. BIG thanks to Pinnd, Jamie and to you guys for watching and supporting the channel.
