Description: 9. HOW TO AVOID EMPTINESS, RESTLESSNESS & BOREDOM: Revelation 2:23—Jesus searches hearts and minds. This is a universal call to holy living or else facing the consequence engine of Galatians 6:7-8 which offers growing boredom, emptiness, uselessness, restlessness, frustration, fear as we walk in the flesh. If we do not repent God then sends weakness, then sickness, and then death. Okay. Let’s talk about the Grace of God. The Grace of God that brings salvation is a package deal. The Grace of God that brings salvation teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires. If you’re not taught to deny ungodliness and worldly desires, then you didn’t get the right kind of grace, because that’s the kind God gives. Jesus has found a potentially terminal condition in His Church. He has the cure in His hands, and no matter how painful or unpleasant the treatment plan is, the worst thing He can do when He finds sin in His Church is to do nothing. Do you want to go to the doctor with a potentially lethal condition and hear Him say, “You’re good to go. Keep doing what you’re doing”? That’s not Grace. That’s not love. Some say the standard God demands from His church is unrealistic. Some say His chastening work in our lives is the cruel act of an intolerant God. Sometimes the pain of the shock to our heart or the cutting away of some sin in our lives makes us think God doesn’t love us. But only a God of love could look at the state His bought-and-paid-for people had gotten themselves into and go to whatever lengths it takes to bring them back to health. The cancer of sin has only one cure. Repentance. The Great Physician, flaming eyes, blazing countenance, and a scalpel poised and ready, gives the same message to all five unhealthy churches: “repent, or else.” Nothing is more important to Jesus than the health of His Church. He is still walking among us, still examining His Body to see if it is healthy, checking new hearts to be sure they’re still functioning as they should.
