We’ve teamed up with Scammer Payback on YouTube to bait, investigate and expose an international refund scam. This is Trilogy Media, and you’re watching SCAMMED! Today we’re looking at the refund scam. You receive a call claiming your computer service company is going out of business, and owes you a refund, typically in the 300 dollar range. The remote connect to your computer to “process your refund” where they log into your bank, and manipulate the webpage to make it falsely LOOK like you’ve received a refund. Not for $300, but much higher. In this case, $30,000. They then play the charade of fearing to lose their job unless you send them that money BACK. Often times in the form of mailed cash. Thanks to our friend Pierogi at @Scammer Payback he’s able to keep these scammers on the hook by using a virtual computer and a fake bank. Today’s scammer, using the name John Kudo, thinks he’s receiving a $30,000 payment from Pierogi, but Pierogi had other plans. The check was to be payable and mailed to a woman named Susan in San Diego. The package is on the way, but it doesn’t have a check. What it will have is an interception from Trilogy Media.
