Description: Codeine is a top opioid and has been for decades, yet not for particularly good reasons. It's become increasingly clear that the drug doesn't have reliable or unique efficacy and it also has some additional safety concerns compared to other opioids. Because of these qualities, it makes sense to make the transition from codeine to NSAIDs, paracetamol, and alternative opioids.
