Description: I'll add up the costs for a full on near first tier PVS-14 Night Vision system as we start. You might have a heart attack when you see this estimated cost and it's probably conservative (assuming a bino, dual PVS14 w US mounts, setup). Make no mistake, a HS PVS-14 is a superior unit and produces imagery in near total darkness, watch for my review on it. It's exactly everything you think it will be. As such the PVS-14s are highly touted... but perhaps maybe too much so. Some AEs tell us this is the only way to get "true night vision" capability and "you just have to suck up the costs." Maybe. But there's an alternative that costs a lot less: the Sionyx Aurora color night vision cameras. I was skeptical at first with the Sionyx Aurora and our first pure dark outing in the desert was unimpressive. But in later outings with the Sionyx Aurora Sport revealed its capabilities. I will to talk to its performance in various settings, compare it to PVS performance, and make you aware of its limitations. It has some you need to be able to accept. Lots of testing video is shown in a wide variety of settings including a urban park under some moonlight and desert mountain scapes. Check out those geese flying by! Holy cow..that was cool. A high point will be my simple but super cool IR illuminator/camera grip integration to the Aurora that I think you'll like.
