Description: I just ordered a couple of stocky 8 inch subwoofers in an impulse to build a Gately Audio "inspired" subwoofer enclosure sporting a dual 8" subwoofers in a unique box design. Category 7 CSW8-350D4 8" dual 4 Ohm 350w RMS subwoofers. These bad boys are made to produce loud and low bass frequencies in any car or SUV when space is limited. Large bass in small size so to speak! Category 7 or C7 as their trademark logo, a locally marketed car audio components brand. Overall build feels and looks durable and efficient. They cost is very reasonable too. The only downside is that these subwoofers do not come with a user's manual or any documentation in its packaging nor any website and stuff. So, in this particular video, we are going to unbox and measure all the thiele/small parameters of Category 7 CSW8-350. A beefy 8" car subwoofer with 350w RMS power rating on its 2 4 Ohm voice coils. 00:00 - Unboxing 00:35 - Church the cute French bulldog helps unboxing. :) 00:50 - Setting up Dayton Audio DATS v3 impedance meter. 01:20 - Extracting Thiele/small parameters of each individual voice coil. 01:45 - Wiring coils in parallel. 02:10 - Measuring piston diameter in millimeters. 02:20 - A known mass is added and secured on top of the dust cover. This data altogether with the piston diameter is used in measuring the speaker's Vas and Mms and SPL values. 02:30 - Measuring Vas and Mms by added mass method on DATS. 02:55 - Finally wire the coils in series. You are in the right place if you are needing these mechanical and electrical data to start designing car subwoofer boxes. And if you are like me who finds smaller sub drivers the new trend in for car audio because bigger subs like 12 or 15 is so overrated. Let me know what you think by commenting down in the comment section. Thank you all and see you in the next video!
