Description: Watch me draw my little cat Pooj! She is a Scottish straight, which is basically a Scottish fold but with regular ears, and she is almost one year old here. I drew Pooj sitting in her basket by the living room windows. For a change of pace, I'm showing you a pen and ink technique known as stippling (dots). This is a tedious way to work, and I could have easily added another six hours of dotting to what I already have here to make the darks extra dense, but I needed to finish this video in a timely manner. And I like the airy quality that looser dots bring to the table. Note: if you would like to try this technique, you really need to dot all areas, even the black ones. It might be tempting to simply shade those parts in solid with your pen, but you will not get that lovely granular texture that you'll see everywhere else. I've had plenty of students beg to fill in the black parts the easy way, and I'm sorry kids, but it just doesn't work as well! Please follow Pooj on her Instagram account, which is @poojkitty. I wanted something a lot whiter and brighter. The whitest parts required a couple of layers at least. I also used Pilot G-2 black pens in sizes 07 and 10.
