Description: Repairing a Broken Cartwheel off a cannon carriage without having to remove the Iron Rim. This is a traditional method that could be done in the field with basic tools. The sides would have been riveted rather than glued. As the wheel is going to be painted, I used fibre glass on the rest of the wheel to fill in minor cosmetic damage from rot and woodworm and it adds strength to the timber. Using a corse rasp leaves grain effect ridges in the finish so it looks like painted wood.
