While their public post on me seemed entertaining to millions, it felt far from altruistic or educational. The cancel culture that exists online is the very definition of online bullying and mob mentality. It all starts with a “callout”. Then the comments of thousands of people sought to destroy my character and my brand without probably ever knowing either about me. The cancel culture is a convenience for the internet because it helps the commenters see their biggest frustrations with the world, incarnate in one person. The receiver of the “callout” is not forced to atone for their immediate sin. They are forced to atone for all of the sins related to that issue.
