Description: On September 11, 2001, Port Authority police officer Will Jimeno started his day like any other. He said goodbye to his pregnant wife and daughter and drove into Lower Manhattan for work. When all the Port Authority officers were called back to the station, Jimeno looked up and realized something was wrong at the twin towers. Back at the station, they boarded buses and headed into the fray. Sgt. John McLoughlin, Jimeno's superior officer, called for volunteers and formed a four-member team to enter Tower 2. Once inside, the team heard a humongous boom, and Sgt. McLoughlin yelled for them to run to the elevator shaft. Little did they know it was Tower 2 collapsing above them. Two of the four team members did not survive the collapse, and Jimeno and McLoughlin were buried alive in the rubble, to be rescued after 13 and 22 hours, respectively, by U.S. Marines. Jimeno's recovery post-9/11 was physically and mentally challenging. Suffering from PTSD but not realizing it, Jimeno was finally able to find help and move forward with his life. Since then, he has spoken at events for children and adults and written two books, and continues his mission of helping people by sharing his story. His motto: Never give up.
