Description: On 23 January 1900, British forces launch an attack on Spion Kop in their attempt to relieve the town of Ladysmith that had been under siege by Boer forces since 2 November 1899. Historian Ray Heron gives a detailed visual account of the intense battle and its outcome. Two world leaders are on this mountain following the bloody battle, and a third famous individual was to become South Africa’s first prime minister.
