Description: Does this drawing look familiar? In the famous film Napoleon Dynamite, main character Napoleon once said of his Liger creation “It’s pretty much my favorite animal. It’s like a lion and a tiger mixed; bred for it’s skills in magic”. The line was meant as a joke, but we had no idea this crazy cats actually existed! This feline combination is most certainly magical in our eyes! This brawny breed of felines is the biggest on the planet. Ps:there are also Tigons too. They consist of male tigers bred with female lions. Subscribe to Knowledge Feed for awesome mysteries, discoveries, fun topics and all around AWESOME videos ! Wholphins (Killer Whale+Dolphin) 7.Well, we’ll say wholphin (singular), because apparently only one exists in captivity. Talk about big fish in a small pond! Not only are wolphins lucky to even exist from a genetic standpoint, they surpass all the typical laws of nature. For instance, a “false” killer whale is still an extremely dangerous predator while the dolphin is known for being friendly and non-threatening. Kekaimalu, a true wolphin, gave birth to her calf Kawili Kai at the Sea Life Park in Hawaaii in 2004. She was born to her dolphin, Panahele and her father, a killer whale, Tanui Hahai. This photo of Kawili Kai was taken in 2005. You’re one of a kind, Kawili Kai! 6.Hinny (Female Donkey + Male Horse) While we’ve definitely heard of a mule, which is a cross between a male donkey and a female horse, we had no idea about hinny- a hybrid cross of a female donkey and a male horse. In some weird way, we’re feeling a lot of girl power about this breed. Why do mules get all the attention when there is an equally as cute and genetically autonomous hybrid breed? Well, this hinny honey seems to have a shaky reputation. Allegedly, hinnies are criticized for their size and inability to breed. Pictured here is is Pearlie May, part miniature horse and part donkey. We believe she has what it takes to make the hinny as popular as the mule! 5.Cama (Camel + Lama) Can you imagine a creature with the cuddly coat of a lama but with the skeletal structure of a camel. Brava! We have you a cama. We can only imagine how much better of a world we would have if there were more camas around to look at. Unfortunately, lamas and camels aren’t exactly star-crossed lovers. The first cama was conceived at the Camel Reproduction Center in Dubai in 1998 using artificial insemination techniques. We’re even more sad that only 5 camas ever existed. Look at this adorable cama not even realizing how adorable he is being. And yes, for all of you language masters out there, cama also means “bed” in Spanish! 4.Leopon(Male Leopard +Female Lion) Wow, now here’s a crazy creature- the leopon. (Sidenote- not to be confused with Internet sensation LeLe Pons). These half leopard, half lion hybrids do not exist in the wild and have only been bred in captivity. Surprisingly, these felines have been around for over a century. The first leapon was bred all the way back in 1911, and zoos all over the country have been breeding them ever since. And get this- leapons have also been bred with liguars, which are hybrids between a male lion and a female jaguar. So that would make their babies leoliguars. Ahhh, leopard, jaguar, lion, jaguar, lion- so many jungle cats, so little time! This leapon looks as confused as we are. 3.Mulard (Mallard+ Muscovy Duck) After all the mammals we have seen thus far, we are SO pleasantly surprised to present you with this wacky bird- the Mulard, which is a cross between a mallard and Muscovy Duck. Like most hybrids, the Mulard was produced for a reason and is not able to reproduce itself. While foie gras is typically made of gesse, the mulard is a more affordable option for food production companies to maintain. If you’re feeling fancy and like this bird seems pretty tasty, hop on over to France. There, this dish is a speciality and is referred to as “magret”. Quack quack, this hybrid duck is wack. 2.Zebroid This zebroid is half zebra, half donkey, and a whole bunch of fun! There are a few different subgeneres of zebroid out in the world- A “zorse”, which is a zerba stallion and horse mare; a “zony”, which is a brered between a stallion zebra and mare miniature pony; and many other kooky terms like a zedonk, a zebronkey, a zonkey, and zebruzla..Even though these hyrbrids are typically sterile, and therefore a very rare breed, it seems like these crazy halfbreeds haven’t had any trouble making their way into the spotlight. Zebroids have appeared in many popular tv shows and films such as Viva La Bam and Racing Stripes.
