Description: Who's ready to take this big audio build to the next level!?!? Today marks a VERY FIRST for me... installing new upgraded wheels, tires, rotors and pads! Spared no expensive choosing the highest quality brake parts and most heavy duty rated rims I could find 😀 Let's get this party started and increase our ride height in the process!!! Today I show how I personally picked out brand new rims by using the stock measurements and maximum dimensions to gauge a good fitment. 2: Increasing Factory Tire Size - The current stance on the van isn't exactly the best looking, but after widening the tires by over 15%, the rear end doesn't look skinny and small from behind anymore. I increased rubber from a 245/70/17 to a 285/70/17. It should help improve ride quality by having a larger taller sidewall to cushion the suspension system. The profile isn't too tall to cause excessive body roll or left to right sway. 3: Removing Stock Wheels & Tires - Taking off the existing steel wheel tire combo, mounted with Firestone Transforce HT treads, designed for highway terrain but they don't have that aggressive looking tread I'm looking for. Avoiding a negative offset combo is extremely important. 4: Cleaning Rust Off Surfaces - Using a wire brush to clean any surface rust off the metal. Coating with lithium and silicone grease to keep things from getting stuck together. Seized up auto parts are never fun. 5: Removing Caliper Assembly - Had to remove the torque member bolts from behind the calipers to safely replace better pads. The hoses were luckily long enough to set the entire housing onto the ground without kinking or pulling on the brake hose line. 6: Installing Rotors & Pads - Compressing the pistons was extra easy, only had to compress each piston about 1/8 inch because the standard pads were barely worn down. 7: Painting Calipers Black - Sanding down, prepping metal, and masking off important areas with tape to paint the bare calipers gloss black. This will protect from rusting, dust, and prevent other forms of automotive corrosion. 8: Mounting New Wheels & Tires - Time to mount up the new combo! Weighing the same amount as before at 79lb, this new combo will help maintain a strong drivetrain without pushing limits on wear and tear for the differentials, gearing or transmission. The speedometer will also only be inaccurate by a tiny number. If my needle is at 70 mph technically I'll be traveling at 72.7 mph. 9: Burnishing / Breaking In Brakes -After installing the brake job, it's very beneficial to "burn in" or "break in" the new pads and rotors. This transfers a layer of ceramic material onto the face of the rotor, adding to increased stopping power from adhesion. These transfer layers add performance when you need to STOP FAST! 10: Enjoying The AWESOME LOOK!
