NPTEL has been giving out course level certificates since 2014 and there have been quite a few students doing multiple courses from NPTEL, which are not always connected. Hence we thought of linking courses that go together building on the foundations and then going in for the electives. Why do an NPTEL Domain? Completing a domain helps to gain expertise in a specific area. This can be helpful for learners who wish to work in a particular area as part of their job or research. Eg: VLSI or Power Electronics domain in Electrical Engineering Apart from this, for students in colleges, getting a domain certificate, which involves completing the specified 5 or 6 courses would indicate to recruiters about how motivated and independent learner you are to become a domain scholar. Eg: Programming or Data Science domain in Computer Science Engg Learners preparing for competitive exams such as GATE etc can also benefit by doing the Minors defined in various disciplines.
