Description: A new GCSE in natural history, set to launch in 2025, will teach young people in Wales, England and Northern Ireland about the human impact on the environment. New Scientist spoke to adventurer, Bear Grylls about how the course could impact young people’s lives. “Education needs this,” he says, “learning formulaic stuff doesn't empower people [...] anything that's going to help young people in a super-competitive, anxiety-ridden age and world to be able to get ahead and to feel lighter and empowered is a good thing.” Subscribe ➤ bit.ly/NSYTSUBS Get more from New Scientist: Official website: bit.ly/NSYTHP Facebook: bit.ly/NSYTFB Twitter: bit.ly/NSYTTW Instagram: bit.ly/NSYTINSTA LinkedIn: bit.ly/NSYTLIN About New Scientist: New Scientist was founded in 1956 for “all those interested in scientific discovery and its social consequences”.
