Description: Although playing in other regions is a bit more difficult in Battlefield 2042 it's still possible. The high ping or lag is still similar to what you could experience in previous Battlefield games on the Frostbite engine where depending on the ping it could give you a weird unfair advantage. For example in BFV 120-140 ping was great range of ping where you could get away with a lot more BS compared to lower or higher pings than that range. People be shooting at your afterimage :P How to play in other regions in BF2042? For now it looks like the matchmaking system can be manipulated in two ways. One is VPN and the other is having two people in a party that are from separate regions and when they queue it will look for the closest Amazon server cluster that will give both players under 200 ping ( current guess ) while trying to get it as close as possible to one of the two players. Once in the game/server anyone else can join the party and queue into the server. Yes there were similar effects in BF3 and BF4 and yes we did have to go to other regions like the EU or England for BF4 when server population got low at night in the US or we didn't want to play in the 24/7 Locker servers. It comes from DICE's goal of trying to make the game feel the same across all spectrums of ping/latency but "netcode" can only do so much. Side note with the Portal servers or at least the testing server I use it will sometimes get created or hosted in another region giving me a higher ping so I'm guessing there is a limit to how many servers are allowed in each region and if one is full it creates it in another region.
