Mini Lesson: The original tuning of Beat It is Eb, so if you have all the strings in your guitar tuned half step down you can jam in many guitarists favorite key: E minor, over which E pentatonic and E blues scales sound great. Eddie sometimes adds the C# instead of C which gives a cool Dorian sound to the solo, be careful not to use it too much over the C major cord, as it’s a strong dissonance.
