Description: This bat doesn't survive so I suggest if you're sensitive to stories like this, this is perhaps not the video for you. Lugh was brought to me by new rescuers who wanted to learn assessment skills and do initial care for the little guy, but when I took him out of the pouch he was newly dead. We can still teach using the dead bodies and the best thing about it is that it doesn't hurt the bat, so it's a good education experience. Lugh was found on the grass beside a swimming pool where I had previously rescued a microbat (which survived) a few years back (lovely MOP (member of public) . The girls Jo and Rae correctly identified him as an adult male Gould's Wattled Bat, so I got to show them all the interesting bits. RIP little Lugh from Lugarno.
