Description: studiobeeproductions.com Charlie and I have been doing a lot of bee removals from sheds lately, and this video is yet another one. Also, because there is rarely any insulation in sheds, the hives tend to be rather large, and this one was large. Had this hive been given another few months to grow, it would have been another monster hive. As it was, it was a fairly large one anyway. This year has been a rather usual year in regard to swarms. Because our nectar flow was so good, many hives swarmed late, late May and early June, due to the hives being honey bound. When Charlie and I first opened the hive, we immediately found several swarm cells on the comb, and seeing just how many bees were in the hive, I assumed the bees were getting ready to swarm. Instead, the bees had already swarmed and the new queens were just about ready to emerge. After removing all the bees and comb, we set the hive up at Charlie's place and put about 5 cells into it. It's been just about a month since we did this removal, and I'm happy to report the hive now has a laying queen in it. I took the remains cells and used them on one of our hives here at the abbey, and I'm happy to report all is well with that hive as well. Being that it was Memorial Day, after we set the bees up, Charlie prepared a meat feast for us and he did some fantastic grilling. All in all, a great day of bee wrangling and then time spent eating steaks and sausages. Wish you were there. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
