Description: In today's episode of Customs & Restorations with Vick, the goat turns an Air Yeezy 1 Zen Grey into the Sample version. For any of the paint to stick, Vick needed to get this shoe as clean as possible, so he began by hitting the sockliners with a RESHOEVN8R soft bristle brush and some water & solution. The uppers of the shoe contained minimal dirt, so he left the medium brush to the side and continued the soft bristle scrub on the outside of the shoe. Once it was to his liking, Vick attacked the sole using the stiff bristle brush. Next up was was the insole and laces - back to the soft bristle! After a quick scrub, the laces and insoles went into the washing machine while the shoe itself dried outside. Once the easy part was over, Vick started this restoration/custom by turning the sock liners from yellow to a bright vibrant orange, using a 50/50 mix of bright and fluorescent orange paint. Spending a little extra time taping the shoe made sure the paint from his air brush did not come in contact with the uppers. Once the sock liners had new life, it was on to the leather and midsole. Using a combo of acetone and alcohol, Vick gave the shoes a rub down with cotton balls, removing all the paint. Before he could hit the uppers with new paint, it was important to fill in a few scuffs and holes using some leather filler and a spatula. After drying the filler with a heat gun, it was ready to be sanded down. Next up, tape and more tape. Once the uppers were completely covered, Vick used his trusty angler brush to hit the midsole with some flat white paint from Angelus. Midsole complete - time for the uppers! Paint matching the grey was no easy task! Don’t ask us the exact recipe, but The Almighty One spent 2 hours mixing a combo of 9 different colors: flat white, light blue, olive, magenta, brown, light grey, green, flat black and sand. Once the paint was exact, Vick laid down the paint with the angler brush and the rest was history! Let us know what you think of the final product!
