This is the second instalment in the series, the first being Saif ul Malook by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh. Waris Shah was born in Punjab in present day Pakistan in 1722. He sadly lost both his parents at an early age and dedicated his life to education and finding the perfect spiritual guide. Waris Shah took on Hafiz Ghulam Murtaza from the Qadri/Chishtiya order as his mentor and after completing his education he moved to Malka Hans a small village near Pakpattan where he resided in a small room adjacent to a historic Masjid now known as Masjid Waris Shah. He sadly left this temporary world at the age of 76 in the year 1798 leaving behind a colourful legacy of literacy in the form of poetry, described as being ‘priceless pearls strung into a rosary’ Join me in celebrating and promoting our rich poetic heritage to our current and future generations.
