Description: There are numerous famous people all the more recognized for their moustaches including Charlie Chaplin, Salvador Dali, Clark Gable and more recently icons such as the late Freddie Mercury. It’s no wonder then that from the catwalks of Milan to the hippest London hang-outs, the moustache is making a sweeping return. According to the fashion gurus, walking down the street without some facial fur will soon be equivalent to taking a nonchalant stroll minus your trousers. The aim of Tacheback (this competition) is simple: to return the moustache to its rightful place as a must-have fashion accessory, and to raise funds for research into male cancers in the process. It’s certainly a fun event although as with any title at stake, there is always great rivalry and pride at stake. The Tacheback competition has been open to contestants who for the past month have been growing some facial shrubbery during September. They get friends to sponsor them for the privilege of watching their top lip grow bushier by the day, all the money goes to men's Charities. The Tacheback culminates in a grand 'best tache' contest party where their Hirsute appendage is displayed in front of a panel of judges, the winner has bragging rights and wins some flight tickets and oddly enough some shaving accessories. For the losers, there is a couple of lady barber who with minimum fuss will whisk off their month old moustache if required. On the night Dave Moller a 29 years New Zealand IT manager won the event.
