Description: Serbian railways main central line Beograd - Niš is the most important railway line in the country. Railway line Beograd - Niš is the main transport route between the railways of Bulgaria, Turkey, North Macedonia and Greece and the railways of Central Europe. It's mostly double - track line. Single - track line stretches between Resnik and Velika Plana and a short section between Stalać and Đunis. Railway line from Belgrade over Mala Krsna to Velika Plana can be considered as another track of Belgrade - Niš line. The basic route between Belgrade and Velika plana is over Resnik and Mladenovac. Rakovica and Resnik are southern Belgrade railway intersections for many railway lines. Between Resnik and Mladenovac, the line stretches over Ralja hilly pass. There are some old railway tunnels and old steel bridges. It is also possible to notice several old wartime German bunkers. During the Second World War they served as military protection of important and large buildings along the railway. The another hilly landscape section on the line is between Stalać and Aleksinac. From Stalać over station Stevanac to station Đunis the line follows the riverbed of the river Južna Morava (South Morava). On its way from Belgrade to Niš, the tracks several times cross the rivers Velika Morava, Južna Morava and Nišava. It is the first railway line built in this area. It dates back to 1884. Since then, the route has been many times changed, upgraded, modernized and electrified. Until the 1990s it was the backbone for the numerous international long - distances passenger trains. Since then, the number of trains has been constantly reduces. That reduction in traffic was followed by great deterioration and the gradually destruction of railway infrastructure. The long term of infrastructure non-maintenance and neglected situation led to a remarkable reduction in maximum allowed speed. In some places it is 30km/h and rarely an incredible 20km/h and 10km/h. On some sections the maximum permitted speed is 100km/h, but it is hard to achieve with long and heavy trains. Along the way, train passes a number of faulty signal and safety devices and defective railroad crossings. All this slows down the movement and the journey on this 243km long railway line often lasts over 6 hours. Freight trains often travel over 10 hours. The recording was made from the Optima Express agency passenger train number 13154. This train transports passengers and their cars from Edirne (Turkey) to Villach (Austria). Detailed information about route and train composition are shown at the beginning of the video. From Niš to Belgrade, the train has two ASEA locomotives (Serbian Railways series 441). The train consisted of 16 wagons (6 passenger coaches and 10 wagons for car transport). It was 885t weight and 473m long train. The train ride starts at 04:39 from Niš main train station. The train passes through Niš marshalling yard (Popovac station) at 16:40. It reaches its maximum speed of 100km/h for the first time around minute 30:20. A fast ride is short because there are many limit and slow order speeds. There are also numerous train dispatcher orders for passing faulty signals and not working railroad crossings. On the route follows: 01:03:00 from Korman to Đunis 9 track signals and 5 railroad crossings do not work 01:29:00 train enters the South Morava gorge 01:49:50 tunnel "Stevanac" 01:56:25 station Stalać and crossing to double-track line to Velika Plana 03:28:00 station Lapovo (passenger station and marshalling yard) 03:53:30 staion Velika Plana and crossing to single-track line to Belgrade railway junction 05:03:48 tunnel "Ralja" and the highest railway station on this railway line 05:10:20 tunnel "Ripanj" - the longest railway tunnel on old Beograd - Niš mainline (1614m long) 05:24:00 an interesting freight trains meeting at station Klenje 05:44:27 entering to Belgrade railway junction (station Resnik) 05:58:44 the longest railway tunnel at Beograd Centar - Niš line (tunnel "Dedinje" 3086m long) This locomotive cab ride is finished at Beograd Centar railway station. The recording was done in November 2021.
