The headline-grabbing features of the Maverick were its $21,500 starting price and 42 mpg fuel economy rating. But this fully-loaded Maverick Lariat with the 2L EcoBoost engine and AWD has neither of those features, getting about half the fuel economy and a much higher as-tested price of $36,295. At these prices, the Maverick interior is still cool and unique, with a good amount of space, but it begins to fall behind the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which offers more tech, power, and comfort for the same price.
