Video reportedly showing a single Russian soldier surrendering to Ukrainians spread on social media Wednesday. The soldier threw down his weapon in Novy Bug, where he was met with Ukrainians who offered him pastries and drinks. In the video, a woman is seen holding up her phone for the soldier, who, according to a report, tearfully speaks with his mother. Russian soldier surrenders and Ukrainians greet him with food and drink As the soldier eats his pastry, a man off screen is heard speaking in Ukrainian. "These young men, it's not their fault," he said. "They don't know why they are here. They are using old maps. They are lost." "A decision has been taken to hand over captured Russian troops to their mothers if they come to collect them in Ukraine, in Kyiv,” the ministry said in a statement. "You will be received and taken to Kyiv where your son will be returned to you." It continued, "Unlike Putin’s fascists, we Ukrainians are not waging war against mothers and their captured children." THIS is the moment a surrendered Russian soldier breaks down in tears as Ukrainians feed him and help call his mum. The shaken trooper is seen gulping down a cup of tea and a pasty as he is calmed by a woman who offers him her phone. The young prisoner of war then blows kisses as his mother answers and bursts into tears. A male voice off camera is heard saying in Ukrainian: "These young men, it's not their fault. They don't know why they are here. "They are using old maps, they are lost." The emotional clip shared on Twitter shows local Ukrainians welcoming the soldier with food after his reported surrender. It was captioned: "Russian soldiers, surrender, Ukrainian people will feed you, just surrender." It comes as Vladimir Putin's demoralised troops flee the war in Ukraine and surrender without a fight, reports claim. Footage has emerged of captured Russian soldiers crying as they claim they had no idea what to expect in Ukraine.
