Description: "Canada is a light version of America. A kind of diet USA." If you think this, then today's video will change your mind! 1. Hudson Bay. The Gravitational pull in the Hudson Bay area is lower than in the rest of the world. Yes, it may sound crazy but it's absolutely true and scientists have two theories on why it is so. Basically, gravity is proportional to mass, the greater the mass the greater the pull. The moon for example is smaller than the Earth and therefore its gravitational pull is less. Scientists believe that a combination of the weight of the Laurentide Ice sheet that compressed the crust forcing it away from the bay area and convection currents in the Earth's magma layer pulling the crust down caused the Earths mass in the Hudson Bay area to be less than anywhere else on the planet, and with less mass, there comes less gravity. 2. McLobster Canadian McDonalds have a McLobster! A soft buttery roll with lobster in a lemon and celery sauce on a bed of shredded lettuce, and it's not the only special thing on the Canadian Mc Ds menu either! They have a Western BBQ burger, a Cottage Country Chicken, and a Maple and Bacon Poutine, which is basically fries covered in gravy, bacon, cheese, and maple syrup. 3. Santa Claus is Canadian Santa's home at the North Pole actually falls in an area between Russia, Norway, Denmark, the US, and Canada. Canada being the welcoming nation it is decided to give Santa and his wife legal citizenship and even went so far as to issue a passport for him and Mrs. Claus to make it easier for them to pass through customs! By the way, thanks to Canada Mail, if you want to send Santa a letter from anywhere in the world and get a response, just send it before the 17th of December to: Santa Claus North Pole HOH OHO Canada If you include the return address you will get a personalized response from Santa himself! 4. Canada is the most educated country in the world Canadians value education greatly and it shows! Ahead of the US, the UK, Japan, and the whole of Europe, Canada is the most educated country in the world with 56% of Adults between 25 and 64 having completed some form of higher education after graduating from High School. It's not only in adult education where Canada prevails though, According to Pisa Tests run by O.E.C.D. Canadian teenagers rank in the top 10 for Science, Mathematics, and Reading. 5. Canada has a landing pad for UFOs In St Paul, Alberta you can see the World's First UFO Landing Pad. It's a large flat concrete structure, weighing 130 tons, and was built back in 1967 as part of Canada's Centennial celebration. At the rear of the structure is a map of Canada made from the stones present in each of the provinces and hidden within the structure is a time capsule that is to be opened in 2067, 100 years after the Landing Pad was built. Although many may think a UFO Landing pad is a pretty weird thing to build, the Canadians built it as a sign of unity and acceptance of all walks of life. 6. Canada has more than 2 million lakes Canada has over 2 million lakes, it has 31,700 lakes that are larger than 3 square kilometers and 561 larger than 100 square kilometers, in fact, the total area of Canada that is covered by freshwater is a whopping 890,000 square kilometers! and that is only 9% of the country's total area! it may sound crazy but it gives you an idea of just how big Canada really is! 7. Canada's lakes contain 20% of all the fresh water on earth Yes, It makes sense, with so many freshwater lakes, Canada has a lot of fresh water, 20% of all the fresh water on the planet, but, that amount is the amount stored in the lakes, the amount available for use without depleting the reserves is a lot less, only about 7% of the world's supply, and of that, only half flows south to the populated areas of the country where it can be used. 8. Canadian tap water is better than most bottled mineral water The quality of Canadian tap water is in general, very good quality, so it's not surprising that Canada is one of the countries with the highest consumption of tap water per capita. What is surprising is that Canadian tap water is so good that many bottled water companies just bottle filtered Canadian tap water. 9. Canada is nearly 40% forest Nearly 40% of Canada's Landmass is forest, that's 1.3 million square miles! nearly 9% of the world's total forest area! The interesting thing is that only around 8% of its forests are held by private landowners the remaining 92% is publically owned that's about 10 hectares per person. 10. Canada has 6 time zones Canada is the second biggest country in the world, the first being Russia.
